Sports nutrition in South Tyrol

Training is only half the story: the right nutrition provides the energy for hard sessions, supports recovery and helps prevent injuries. Ski touring, cycling marathon, mountain running or strength training – the right strategy depends on your sport, your training volume and your goals.

At AGON in Sterzing, registered dietitian Jasmin Steckholzer, with specialised training in sports nutrition (diploma/coach of the Austrian Dietitians Association), advises amateur and elite athletes – in close coordination with our physio and training team.

Recovery & body composition

The right nutrition speeds up recovery and supports muscle building and a healthy competition weight. With BIA measurement we make changes in body composition visible.

Return to sport after injury

After an injury or surgery, the body needs enough energy and protein to repair tissue and maintain muscle mass. During rehabilitation we adapt your nutrition to every phase – from rest to return to sport.

At AGON, sports physiotherapy, training therapy, orthopaedic follow-up and nutrition counselling work hand in hand.

Frequently asked questions about sports nutrition

Is sports nutrition counselling worthwhile for recreational athletes?
chevron-down icon

Yes, especially in recreational sports: many people train regularly but eat too little, too one-sidedly or at the wrong time. Even small adjustments can noticeably improve performance, recovery and well-being.

Are dietary supplements useful?

That depends on your individual needs. A balanced diet that meets your requirements is always the foundation. Whether supplements make sense is assessed on an evidence basis, considering your sport, your training and – if available – your blood values.

What does a BIA measurement offer athletes?

Bioelectrical impedance analysis shows muscle and fat mass, hydration and cellular health. This allows training and nutrition progress to be tracked objectively – for example during pre-season preparation or muscle building.

Do you offer services for clubs and teams?

Yes. In addition to individual consultations, Jasmin Steckholzer offers workshops and talks on sports nutrition for clubs, teams and institutions on request.
